Holiday Science Fest gives parents, kids a fun break from the busy season

A typical Winter Break scene: visiting relatives have left, presents are left in a pile on the floor and parents are scrambling to find things their children can do to fight boredom. So what’s a parent to do? Bring their kids to the Air Zoo’s annual Holiday Science Fest, of course.

Air Zoo program gives visitors chance learn about laws of motion

Bikes roll, boats sail, airplanes fly and rockets blast into space… but do you know how they do it? Sir Isaac Newton did! On Saturday, November 29, visitors to the Air Zoo will see for themselves how things move and how these strange ideas called “Newton’s Laws of Motion” are part of everything we do.

Local sailor to re-enlist during ceremony at the Air Zoo

Though it’s sometimes a tough job, many men and women in the armed forces are making a career in the military. A local sailor, who has been enlisted in the Navy for nearly 10 years, will re-enlist for another four years at the Air Zoo during a 12 p.m. ceremony on Monday, November 17. The ceremony will take place beneath the wings of an F-18 Hornet, a naval aircraft.

Air Zoo to offer free admission to veterans, families on Nov. 11

This Veteran’s Day, (Tuesday, November 11) the Air Zoo will honor those who have served—and those who continue to serve—our country by offering free admission to veterans (and their immediate families*) of all branches of the armed forces.

New simulator experience sets stage for Air Zoo’s anniversary

Visitors to the Air Zoo can now fly the Zero, Wildcat, Hellcat, Corsair, Kawasaki George and P-38 Lightning simulators—as well as the original F-18 flight simulator.

Open cockpit day, line-control aircraft demonstrations set stage for International Plastic Modelers Society show

On Saturday, September 6, the Air Zoo will be the host site of more than 200 plastic models ranging from space crafts, custom cars and hot rods to airplanes and helicopters. Modelers from all over the Midwest will gather for the 10th annual Air Zoo plastic model contest.
